Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Bukavu in Congo.
On the 1st day of the 3 days Eastern Lowland gorilla trekking safari, your safari driver from company will pick you up either from your hotel in Kigali or from Kigali International Airport. He will welcome you and brief you about the 3 days safari. After the briefing you will embark on your journey and drive using Rubavu through Karongi with the spectacular views along the way, when you reach Rusizi you will enjoy your enroute lunch in the local restaurant before reaching the Rubavu border post. After lunch you will proceed with your journey until you reach the Rubavu border post, where you will go under immigration process to get the Democratic Republic of Congo Visa and then you will cross the Democratic Republic of Congo through using the Rubavu border. You will drive towards your lodge, and once you arrive you will check in lodge, for relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 2: Eastern Lowland gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Biega National Park.
On the 2nd day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy a hearty breakfast, after breakfast meet your safari guide and meet your safari guide and transfer to the park’s headquarters where you will register and meet your allocated ranger guides before heading to the park trekking starting site for your lowland gorilla trekking adventure. After you will depart with your ranger guide that will give you knowledge and information about Kahuzi Biega National Park.
When you reach the park you will start looking for the eastern lowland gorillas in their natural habitats. You explore the park’s lush forests and look for the gorillas, gorilla trekking takes a period of thirty minutes to 5 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Along the way looking for the gorillas you will be rewarded with the unique sightings of the unique landscapes, until you find the gorillas. And once the gorillas are located you will be given a period of one hour to be in the presence of gorillas, that is watching them play, watching the female gorillas grooming their young ones, taking their pictures and recording their movies. After the period of one hour experience you will then return back to the starting point of the park to where you will be awarded with the gorilla trekking certificates for participating part in gorilla trekking. After you will transferred back to your lodge for relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 3: Departure.
On the final day of your safari, get up early in the morning and enjoy your hearty breakfast. You will check out from your lodge and meet your safari guide and get ready to transfer to Rwanda, through using Bukavu border. You will have the amazing views along the way of the attractive scenery, as you are proceeding to Rwanda. And once you arrive, you will enjoy your lunch in Kigali, and later after lunch. Depending on your arrival time you can decide to do Kigali City Tour and visiting the famous Kigali genocide memorial grounds that honors the memory of the various numbers of Rwandans killed in 1994 through education.
You will be able to explore as you are hearing and listening to the video excerpts from the incident’s survivors, optional you can visit other destinations like Kimironko market, Presidential Palace Museum or any other destination in the city before being dropped to your convenient place that is either at Kigali International Airport to catch your next flight back home or be dropped to your hotel in Kigali that will make your safari come to the end.
