Detailed Itinerary of 8 Day 3 Countries – Chobe NP, Victoria Falls & Hwange NP

Day 1-3: Hwange National Park

On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, you will warmly welcomed by an African Vacation Safaris representative and connect for a light flight to Hwange National Park. On this flight of 30 minutes you will enjoy aerial view of the changing landscape.

On landing, you will be met by your Driver-Guide and be transferred to your camp/lodge – The Hide Safari Camp situated on the Kennedy Vlei line where waterhole and underground viewing hide are positioned. In the drier months, large herds of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes and antelopes congregate here to drink.

Hwange National Park is a 14,500 sq.km protected area hosting some of the highest diversity of wildlife for any park in Africa. The park has over 40,000 elephants and strong populations of predators such as lions, leopards, hyenas some cheetahs and African wild dogs as well as the rare sable and roan antelopes.

On your 3 Days stay at the Hide, you will enjoy excellent guided game drives and the opportunity of guided walking safaris to fully immerse yourself in the wonder of the African savannah and its ecosystem. Also, the hide offers night drives on its private concession.

Day 4-5: Victoria Falls

Fly from Hwange National Park to Victoria Falls Airport, on arrival you will be met by your Driver-Guide and drive to the Zambian side of Victoria Falls. Check in at your lodge  Chunkudwa River Lodge, an intimate owner – run retreat with only 6 luxury chalets on stilts, all river-facing onto the might Zambezi River, and is 25km upstream of Victoria Falls. Your stay includes daily experiences from a choice of sunrise and sunset boat cruises, a Victoria Falls day trip, a horse ride (of all levels), a Zambezi lunch time floating picnic, bush walks and mountain bike rides.

Bucket list experience popular in Victoria Falls are a helicopter “Flight of Angels”, white water rafting, swimming in the Devil’s Pool on Livingstone Island, tracking rhino in nearby Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, or visiting the local village to engage in local culture.

Day 6-7: Chobe National Park

On Day 6 of the safari, you will be driven across the new Kazungula Bridge into Botswana. You will be transferred to your lodge – Muchenje Safari Lodge, a superbly located lodge in a more exclusive western part of Chobe National Park, with panoramic views over the Chobe floodplain river below it. You will participate in guided game drives, boat cruises, Mokoro rides (in season), guided walks and night drives are all on offer from this owner-run luxury lodge.

Enjoy a full-day excursion into Chobe National Park, along with a boat trip on the Chobe River done in a small private boat lasting 2.5 hours of exploring the river. Your guides know where the elephants prefer to congregate, drink, and cross to Sedudu Island. On the way there, you will explore the banks, trees and pools to see other wonderful wildlife that frequents the Chobe River. Guests get to enjoy delicious picnic while witnessing the elephants gathering on the banks.

Day 8: Departure – Victoria Falls Airport

Today is your last day on the safari.
