Detailed Itinerary of 8-Day Tanzania Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Pick up – Transfer to Tarangire National Park

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or after breakfast at your hotel in Arusha, you will meet your driver-guide, a representative of African Vacation Safari. He will give you a short briefing about the safari then embark on a journey to Tarangire National Park, an incredibly stunning Tanzania park known for the abundance of baobab trees and the Tarangire River which acts as magnet for wildlife most especially during the dry season as well as large herds of elephants.

You will have lunch at a picnic site with great views of the river and wildlife, then go for an afternoon game drive as you proceed to you accommodation. Look out for large herds of elephants, buffaloes, gazelles, zebras, giraffes among others.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, journey to Lake Manyara National Park for a full day game drive. Though it is small in size, Lake Manyara National Park has a breathtaking scenery famous for its lush acacia forest, giant figs and permanent residents of the park including the rare tree climbing lions and large herds of elephants as well as flocks of flamingoes on the shores of Lake Manyara.

At sunset, you will head to your lodge for check-in, enjoy dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, you will drive to the Serengeti National Park – the most famous national park in the World. The journey is long taking you through the beautiful Ngorongoro Highlands and you will make a stop at Ngorongoro Crater rim for an incredible view of Ngorongoro Crater.

Serengeti hosts the Great Migration, where over 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras and Thomson and Grant’s gazelles make their way through the Serengeti plains on their annual journey in search for water and green pasture.

Day 4&5: Serengeti National Park

You will spend these two full day exploring Serengeti National Park on game drives giving you an opportunity to see the Big cats and large predators. Lookout for cheetahs, lions, leopards, jackals and other small animals like mongoose, foxes, honey badgers, jackals, baboons, rock hyrax and incredible sighting of more than 500 bird species that inhabit this park.

Day 6: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Enjoy an early morning game drive in Serengeti to see one of magical sunrise you will ever witness and predators as they return to their dens from their hunting sprees.

After the game drive, return to the lodge for a full breakfast, then checkout and proceed to Ngorongoro, the 8th wonder of the Natural world. Ngorongoro is one of the few places on the continent where you can see black rhino and the greatest concentration of wildlife in Africa. Continue to your lodge and the Ngorongoro Crater rim, check in, and enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater Game Driver – Transfer to Lake Eyasi

Wake up early and head to Ngorongoro Crater for a full day game drive, descend into Ngorongoro Crater floor for a game drive. The crater is one of the most stunning places on earth hosting the highest concentration of wildlife, the crater is dominated by several swamps, a soda lake with a great concentration of flamingos, a forest and open plains.

During the game drive, you will watch sightings of several animals including lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, gazelles, zebras, several species of antelopes and several bird species. Enjoy lunch at one of the picnic sites in the crater floor and continue with the game drive. Later ascend the crater and drive towards Lake Eyasi, where you will have a unique and fascinating cultural experience on the next day.

Day 8: Cultural Encounter of Hadzabe Tribe and Departure

Today is the last day of your 8 Day Tanzania wildlife safari. Wake up before sunrise and head out with your guide to the Hadzabe tribe, one of the last nomadic tribes in Africa for a cultural experience. You can join the men of this tribe in their daily hunting, or the women in their fruit gathering session.

Once you are done with the experience, you will go for a visit to Lake Eyasi, a season shallow salt lake on the floor of the Great Rift Valley then transfer back to Arusha where you will be dropped off either at your hotel or at airport to catch your flight back home.
