11 Days Tanzania and Uganda safari : The 11 day Serengeti, Ngorongoro safari and Bwindi, Queen Elizabeth safari is an epic adventure that takes you to the thrilling journey through the most breathtaking landscapes and wildlife habitats in Tanzania and Uganda. This incredible safari begins in Tanzania, where you explore the endless plains of Serengeti national park, witnessing the majestic great migration of the wildebeest, zebras, gazelles and marveling at the incredible diversity of wildlife including the big five mammals that is the lions, buffaloes, rhinos, elephants and leopards. From there you will venture to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to the world-famous Ngorongoro crater, the largest intact caldera on the planet, where you will descend into the crater’s floor to discover an astonishing variety of wildlife. After crossing into Uganda you will go to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to over 486 endangered mountain gorillas, where you will embark on a thrilling trek to encounter up close. Finally you will explore the stunning Queen Elizabeth National Park, with its diverse ecosystems, like savannas, forests and wetlands and incredible variety of wildlife like leopards, lions, leopards, hippos, elephants, buffaloes and among many others, making this 11-day safari an unforgettable through the heart of Africa.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1:  Pick up and transfer to Serengeti National Park.

On the 1st day of the safari, your safari guide from African Vacation Safaris, will pick you from your hotel in Arusha or from Arusha Airport, and welcome you to the safari, then brief you about the safari, after the briefing you will proceed with your journey to Serengeti National park. You will traverse through a diverse landscape of the rolling hills, vast plains and then the attractive villages, offering the glimpse into the rural Tanzanian life. The road passes you through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the world’s largest intact caldera, before continuing northwest towards the Serengeti. During the game drive you will witness various animal species like warthogs, zebras, antelopes, buffaloes, lions, and among others. As you drive deeper into the Serengeti, you will witness the incredible wildlife and the natural beauty of this park. After the experience you will be transferred to the lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 2 and 3rd: Full day in Serengeti National Park.

On the 2nd and 3rd day of the safari, get up early in the morning and enjoy a hearty breakfast, after breakfast meet your safari guide and go for the morning game drive, where you will spot the variety of the wildlife species and enjoy looking out them grazing in the open savannah of the park like cheetahs, giraffes, gazelles, buffaloes, antelopes, wildebeests, impalas, kudus, cheetahs, hippos and others. After the experience, you will drive to your lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will go for the afternoon game drive which is an outstanding experience that offers you unique perspective on the park’s incredible wildlife, during the afternoon game drive is the ideal time to spot the big five mammals as well as cheetahs, hyenas and other many predators, in the best spots that includes the Seronera valley that is known for its abundant lions and leopards, the Retina Hippo pool where you can spot hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat, the endless plains where you can witness the Great migration of the wildebeests, zebras and gazelles. After the experience you will transfer to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

On the 4th day of the safari, get up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast, together with your packed lunch meet your safari guide and get ready to transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area for more wildlife experience. As you exist the lodge you will have the perfect morning views of the various early risers including the lions, buffaloes, elephants and among others, with the beautiful views along the way. And once you arrive the area, you will be transferred to your lodge and check in and be served with lunch. After lunch you will meet your safari guide and go for the afternoon game drive around Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

During the experience you will spot the diverse numbers of the wildlife that includes wildebeests, antelopes, elands, gazelles, cheetahs, zebras, and others in the crater’s unique ecosystem. You will explore the crater floor where the fertile soils and abundant water support a diverse variety flora and fauna. Another great spot is the crater’s western corridor, where the Munge River flows, that attracts a wide variety of animals that includes wildebeests, gazelles, zebras, and among others, with the stunning views of the surrounding landscape, with the crater’s towering walls rising up in the distance. After the experience you will be transferred to the lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 5: Ngorongoro crater tour.

On the 5th day of the safari, get up early in the morning and be served with breakfast, after breakfast you will meet your safari guide and be transferred to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for the Ngorongoro crater tour. This is a breathtaking adventure that takes you through the natural wonders, in the morning you will descend into the crater, the world’s largest intact caldera, and explore its unique ecosystem, which supports an incredible variety of wildlife that includes the Big five mammals that is rhinos, buffaloes, lions, leopard and elephants. As you make your way through the crater, you will pass through a diverse range of landscape, from the lush forests, grasslands to lakes and rivers, each supporting a wide variety of flora and fauna. After you will later go for the picnic lunch as you enjoy the beautiful views, after lunch you will go for the extra experience you will also see various wildlife species like zebras, antelopes, elephants, hippos, elands, hyenas, warthogs and among many others. As well you will also enjoy spotting flamingos along the shores of Lake Magadi that is located in the Ngorongoro crater. After the experience you will be transferred back to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Arusha.

On the 6th day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy your delicious breakfast. After breakfast you will check out from your lodge with your packed lunch and meet your safari guide and get ready to transfer to Arusha. As you exist from the park you will have the wonderful sightings of the early risers like lions, buffaloes, elephants and among others. You will have the wonderful views of the landscapes along the way. And once you arrive you will be transferred to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 7: Fly to Entebbe International Airport.

On the 7th day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast, you will be picked and transferred from your hotel and drive to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight to Entebbe International Airport. And once you arrive in Entebbe your Ugandan safari guide from African Vacation Safaris will pick you up and welcome you and then you will be transferred to your hotel for diner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

On the 8th day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park the famous home of the half remaining number of the gorillas in the world. Along the way you will have the perfect attractions, you will have the stopover at Equator for the equator experience in Kayabwe that will offer you the wonderful time. After the experience you will proceed with your journey and make a second stopover in Mbarara town to where you will have lunch. After lunch you will proceed with your journey to Bwindi with the best views of the rolling hills, attractive landscape and roads. And once you arrive you will check in your lodge and be served with dinner relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 9: Gorilla trekking and Batwa experience.

On the 9th day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast you will carry your lunch and meet your safari guide to where he will transfer you to the park’s headquarters for the gorilla trekking briefing of the rules and regulations to follow. After the briefing you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about the mountain gorillas and also conversant with the various gorilla trekking traits. Gorilla trekking takes a period of about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. During gorilla trekking you will be impressed with the diverse spotting of various biodiversity and once the mountain gorillas are spotted you be given a period of one hour to be in the presence of the gorillas, that is watching them feeding, playing, breastfeeding, mothers grooming their young ones, taking pictures and recording their videos and among others. After the experience you will be transferred back to the starting point to where you will be will receive the gorilla trekking certificates for taking part in gorilla trekking.

After the experience you will participate in the Batwa experience as this is a unique and enriching cultural encounter that allows visitors to explore the traditional way of life of the Batwa people, an indigenous tribe that has lived in the forest for centuries. During the experience you will be guided by the Batwa guide, who will share with you their ancient knowledgeable of the forest, including their hunting skills and among others. You will also visit a Batwa community, where you will learn about their history, customs, and daily life and have the opportunity to interact with the Batwa people, creating unforgettable memories of this immersive cultural experience. Then you will be driven back to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 10: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park.

On the 10th day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy the breakfast, after breakfast you will check out from your lodge and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park with the perfect views along the way. When you arrive you will check in your lodge with the enroute game driving that is watching various wildlife along the way heading to your lodge, that includes the buffaloes, lions, leopards, elephants, and among others. After lunch you will go for the afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga channel where you will spot the numerous schools of the hippos and various elephants as well as various bird species like African Kingfishers, cormorants, and among others on the lake. After the experience you will be transferred to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 11: Morning game drive and departure.

On the last day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast you will check out from your lodge and meet your safari guide for the early morning game drive to watch the early raisers, you will explore the Kasenyi plains, a vast open grassland that’s home to the diverse variety of the wildlife, you will spot animal species like Uganda Kobs, lions, bushbucks, Defassa waterbucks, hyenas, leopards, as you drive through the plains, keep an out for the park’s iconic ‘’tree-climbing lions’’, which are often spotting lounging in the branches of the fig trees. After the experience you will begin your journey to Kampala or Entebbe, with the enroute lunch along the way, when you arrive you will be dropped at your convenient place either in Kampala city or Entebbe International Airport for your next flight back that will make your safari come to the end.
