Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.
On the first day of your safari, your safari guide from African Vacation Safaris will pick you either from your in Kigali or from Kigali International Airport. After he will belief you about the 5 days safari. After the beliefing you will be transferred for Kigali city tour where you will explore Kigali’s top destinations that includes Genocide Memorial Center, Kimironko Market and among others. After the city tour you will have lunch in Kigali city as you will be ready to transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and later you will start with your journey to Bwindi with the magnificent views of the landscape along the way, and once you arrive you will check in your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla habituation experience.
On the 2nd day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast and meet your safari guide and then you will be transferred to the park headquarters with your packed lunch for a briefing by the ranger guides and then you will head to the forest for the gorilla habituation experience in Rushaga sector. You will be joined by the team of the researchers, conservationists, scientists and among others, compared to gorilla trekking that takes one hour, gorilla habituation takes a period of four hours to be in the presence of the gorillas once the gorillas are found. This is when you will learn more about the gorillas through research and among many others. After the experience you will be transferred to the starting point and be awarded with the gorilla habituation certificates for participating in gorilla habituation. After you will be transferred to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park and Iby’wacu village tour.
On the 3rd day of the safari, get up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast you will check out from your lodge and meet your safari guide and transfer to Volcanoes National Park that is where you will drive to Kisoro to across the Uganda-Rwanda-Cyanika Border to connect to Volcanoes National Park that is about 3 to 4 hour’s drive. And once you arrive you will check in your lodge and be served with lunch, and after lunch you will be transferred to visit the Ibyi’wacu village for a cultural tour this is a unique and immersive cultural experience that allows the visitors to explore the traditional ways of life of the Rwandan people, during the tour, visitors can participate in the activities like traditional farming, cooking and crafts, and learn about the history and traditions of the Batwa people. After the experience you will be transferred to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 4: Golden monkey trekking.
On the 4th day of the safari, get up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast you will meet your safari guide and then be transferred to the headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during golden monkey trekking. After you will enter the forest and start looking for the golden monkeys as you enjoy spotting of various primates, butterflies, bird species, plant species, tree species and among many others, and the activity takes about 1 to 3 hours or even more depending on the location of the golden monkeys. And once they are found, you will be given a period of one hour to be in the presence of the golden monkeys that is watching them climbing trees to trees, watching them feed, watching them feed. And after the experience you will be transferred back to your lodge and be served with lunch. After lunch you will either relax at your lodge or move at around the lodge. Later you will be served with dinner, relaxation and overnight at your lodge.
Day 5: Mount Bisoke hiking and departure.
On the final day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and take breakfast. After breakfast checkout from your lodge, together with your packed lunch and meet your safari guide and be dropped to the briefing point for your briefing. After the briefing you will begin your ascent to the mountain summit and simply this takes you about 3 to 4 hours depending on your personal hiking pace. Along the way hiking you will be impressed with the attractive wildlife. And once you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with the stunning views of the park and other mountains in the Virunga Massif like Mount Nyiragongo though a clear day, Mount Karisimbi, Mount Sabyinyo, Mount Muhabura and among many others. You will enjoy your packed lunch, along the way hiking. And after the experience you will be transfer back to your hotel in Kigali or be dropped to Kigali International Airport that will make your safari come to the end.
