Kafue National Park stands as the oldest and largest national park in Zambia. Established in 1950, it spans over 22,400 square kilometers. Getting there
To access Kafue National Park, head to the southern part of Kafue Bend off Mumbwa. Stay on the main road heading west for 66 km from Mumbwa, and you will reach the Nalusanga Gate entrance, which is about 20 km away. As you follow the Itezhi D769 street, take into account the access to Puku Pan and various hotels along the lake.
From the west, proceed along the tarred road in Lusaka, and the entrance is at Tate Yoyo Gateway. Take the route from Solwezi to Kasempa, then follow the raised rock D181 Kaoma Street to arrive at Kabulushi Gate. Continue by taking the Lunga Stream barge until you reach the Lubungu Waterway boat.
Kafue National Park can be accessed from the traveler’s center town of Livingstone in the south via graded roads. The trip to Dundunwezi Gate takes approximately three hours by road and can also be reached through airstrips at Ngoma, Chunga, and Lufupa using airplanes.
